I Want To Be A Lighting Designer

Lighting Design is a profession that combines both technical skill and creativity. You may choose to go through an apprenticeship with a lighting firm but you would be well advised to gain a qualification first. The National Council for Drama Training offers courses up to and including degree level; alternatively, you may choose to go to University. You may go through a general design course but an increasing number of institutions offer a specialist degree in lighting design. The skills you acquire will stand you in good stead, not just in the theatre but in all fields of live performance, dance, music, and of course, film and television.
