Dominic's Career Dominic Cooper feels he was lucky because he ‘had a damn good drama department’ at his school. After leaving he trained to be an actor for three years at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). He freely confesses that to work in theatre you need ‘oodles of luck’, but there is no doubt that ability is necessary too. Dominic has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he played Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream , and for the National Theatre. He has also appeared on television and made five films including Boudica . He first teamed up with His Dark Materials ’ director Nicholas Hytner when Hytner cast him for a part in Mother Clap’s Molly House , a play about gay prostitution in the 18th century. He has been involved in His Dark Materials from the early workshops which began over a year before the production opened. | | |
