What is an Education Director?

Most regional theatres have an Education Director, though they may be called Head of Education or Education Officer. Steve is a member of the senior management team at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and is responsible for managing the Education team who, between them, run workshops in schools and at the theatre, run five youth theatres, programme and produce theatre for children and young people, offer training courses for teachers and actors and lead community engagement projects. One of these, entitled REP's Children, provides every baby born in Birmingham's City and Sandwell Hospitals with a free theatre experience every year for the first ten years of their life.
