I Want To Be A Set Designer

I Want To Be A Set Designer

If you hope to become a set designer you would be well advised to begin by studying design, fine art or architecture in school, and at college or university. You can now study stage design at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Society of British Theatre Designers lists UK courses. The qualities you will need to be a successful designer go beyond the obvious creative skills. You will need to be very self-sufficient and well organised. You should have a love of theatre. Don’t expect to be highly paid unless you are at the very top of your profession, but it can be a very satisfying career because you play a decisive role in the look of a production.
