Jenny's CareerJenny King, like so many successful artists, began her career at the bottom. In 1968, she was a student A.S.M. at Hampstead Theatre Club, moving on to the Laban Art of Movement Studio before becoming a movement and drama teacher at Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham. She worked for the legendary Joan Littlewood from 1972-1975 as administrator and fundraiser for Littlewood's Fun Palace project at her theatre in Stratford E.15. In 1976, Jenny King formed a community theatre company at the temporary theatre on the site of Bankside Globe Playhouse, Southwark and later a small scale touring community theatre company, 'Fit to Bust', with which she toured as an actor and manager to colleges, sports centres and studio theatres in the North of England. Between 1980 and 1982, Jenny trained as a Theatre Designer at Croydon College of Art and Design and in the following year she won an Arts Council Bursary to Manchester Library Theatre as a Designer. In 1989, she formed her own commercial tour booking and general management agency called Centreline Productions and in 1993, she started producing with her agency. | | |
